Why Choose YouGuang Chinese School – Oakville Campus?

25,Sep,2026

When parents choose a Chinese school, they are choosing much more than a curriculum, a classroom, or a two-hour weekly lesson.

What truly shapes a child’s learning experience is the quality of the teacher, the number of students in the classroom, who is responsible for teaching quality, and whether the school is committed to the community for the long term.

With the complete upgrade of our Oakville Campus, we are investing in what we believe matters most.

Rather than putting more students into each classroom, we choose to invest more in each child and provide Oakville families with a truly small-group Chinese learning experience with a maximum of 8 students per class.

1. We Invest Where It Matters Most — Our Teachers

Education ultimately happens through teachers.

Beautiful classrooms and excellent learning materials matter, but without outstanding and stable teachers, they cannot be transformed into a high-quality learning experience for children.

That is why YouGuang makes a substantial investment in our teaching team.

Our teachers start at $40 per hour.

For a two-hour Chinese class, that means a starting teaching wage of $80 per class.

YouGuang also has an annual salary increase system for teachers.

Based on our verified comparison of Chinese schools in the Greater Toronto Area, YouGuang offers the highest starting hourly teaching rate among Chinese schools we have identified.

We are comfortable making our starting wage public because it reflects how we value the teaching profession:

Excellent teachers deserve compensation that reflects their professional ability and responsibility.

Competitive and continuously increasing compensation also helps us attract and retain strong teachers and build a more stable teaching team.

Teacher stability matters to children.

Students should not have to repeatedly adjust to new teachers. Over time, a stable teacher can understand each child's personality, strengths, challenges, learning pace, and progress.

We want our teachers to see YouGuang as a place where they can grow and teach for the long term—not simply as another temporary part-time position.

2. Excellent Teachers — With a Maximum of Only 8 Students

If teacher quality determines the potential of a classroom, class size determines how much of that quality can actually reach each child.

That is why we made an important decision for our upgraded Oakville Campus:

Maximum 8 Students per Class

Not “approximately eight.”

Not “currently eight.”

Eight is the maximum.

This means that a teacher whom we carefully select, train, and compensate starting at $40 per hour will teach no more than eight students in a class.

Why does this matter?

Language learning requires interaction.

With a maximum of eight students, each child has more opportunities to:

speak Chinese;

read individually;

answer questions;

receive immediate teacher feedback;

participate in classroom interaction;

and express ideas in Chinese.

Teachers can also more easily recognize:

which child has not fully understood a concept;

which child understands well but is hesitant to speak;

which child reads confidently but needs more support with expression;

which child needs additional repetition;

and which child is ready for a greater challenge.

The real value of a small class is not simply having fewer students. It is making sure every child can be seen.

3. Our Founder Personally Oversees Teaching at the Oakville Campus

Oakville is not simply another teaching location copied from our main campus.

It is YouGuang’s demonstration campus and an important part of our long-term development.

YouGuang founder and Chief Teacher Yang Guang personally serves as the Teaching Director for the Oakville Campus and oversees its teaching system and instructional quality.

From curriculum design and standardized lesson materials to teacher training and classroom standards, the Oakville Campus is directly supported by YouGuang’s central academic system.

This means our Oakville Campus is not simply:

a few teachers + a few classrooms + a set of textbooks.

There is a complete teaching system operating behind every class.

We will also continue to introduce, test, and refine new teaching practices, curriculum improvements, and educational programs at the Oakville Campus.

The quality of a campus should not depend on whether an individual teacher happens to deliver a great lesson on a particular day. It should be supported by a consistent teaching system.

4. We Are Building for the Long Term in Oakville

There is another simple way to evaluate a school:

Is it truly planning to stay?

Our new Oakville Campus is centrally located in Oakville.

For this campus, YouGuang has committed to a:

5-year + 5-year lease

providing the potential for a long-term home of up to 10 years.

We have also invested significantly in upgrading the entire campus—from renovations and new classroom furniture to teaching equipment and the overall learning environment.

When parents first walk into our Oakville Campus, we want them to feel:

This is a school—not a temporary teaching location.

We are willing to make this investment because we do not view Oakville as a short-term market.

We want to build this campus year after year and support children who may begin Chinese at age four, continue into Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 and beyond, and eventually develop genuine Chinese reading, writing, and communication skills.

Four Numbers That Define YouGuang Oakville

If we had to introduce YouGuang Chinese School – Oakville Campus with just four numbers, these would be the ones:

$40+
Starting hourly wage for teachers, with annual increases

8
Maximum number of students per class

1
Founder and Chief Teacher personally overseeing Oakville’s teaching system

5+5
Long-term campus lease, providing a potential home of up to 10 years

Behind these four numbers is one simple idea:

We are willing to invest more in teaching quality—and we are committed to Oakville for the long term.

For better teachers, we are willing to invest more.

To give teachers the opportunity to truly know every child, we choose to keep classes smaller.

To maintain teaching quality, our founder personally oversees the academic system.

To build a real school rather than a temporary teaching location, we have made a long-term commitment to our campus.

This is what small-group education means to us.

It is not a marketing phrase.

It means:

Better teachers. Fewer students. Greater investment in teaching. A longer-term commitment.
